The U.S. used B-2 bombers during the Kosovo conflict, flying them out of U.S. bases. The resulting 30-hour missions might normally have been taxing for the two pilots, but they were able to take turns sleeping during the long flights. Unfortunately, the billion-dollar planes have no place for pilots to sleep. No problem: the Air Force fitted “lounging lawn chairs” into the cockpits. The chairs were purchased at Wal-Mart for $8.88 each. (Reuters) ...Naturally, the wing commander has been severely disciplined for not coming up with a multi-million-dollar solution.
